One-person Exhibition in Liepāja – ”LANDSCAPES OF THE SOUL” from July 17
From July 17 to October 15, Liepāja will host painter Ilze Laizāne’s one-person exhibition, Landscapes of the Soul — a series of paintings inviting visitors on a journey into the inner world, where memories, emotions, and reflections are transformed into colors and symbols.
Every person carries within themselves a unique landscape—an invisible space where lived experiences, dreams, longings, silence, and hope reside. It is this inner landscape of the soul that forms the central theme of the exhibition. It is not a place that can be found on a map, but an ever-changing world shaped by our experiences, encounters, losses, and discoveries.
The idea for the exhibition emerged during long walks, when the rhythm and movement of nature became a form of meditation. Steps turned into thoughts, thoughts into emotions, and emotions into paintings. Observing the play of light, trees, people, the sky, and the city, the artist continually found herself reflecting on life, time, and the essence of human existence. These reflections became the foundation of works in which the outer world naturally merges with the inner one.
Ilze Laizāne is a professional painter with a higher academic education, whose artistic practice is deeply rooted in emotional experience, human identity, and symbolic thinking. In her paintings, figurative motifs intertwine with elements of nature and abstract forms, creating a rich, multilayered visual language. There is no single correct interpretation—each viewer is invited to discover their own story and their own reflection.
The artist’s works do not speak of specific events; they speak of emotions. They explore fragility and strength, solitude and belonging, and the feminine intuition that can perceive beauty even in silence. Color becomes emotion, line becomes thought, and each painting becomes a space for dialogue with oneself.
Landscapes of the Soul is an invitation to pause in a world that is constantly rushing forward. It reminds us that true human richness lies in our ability to feel, observe, and reflect. Just as nature is in constant transformation while remaining true to itself, so too is the human soul.
This exhibition is more than a display of artworks. It is an opportunity to become still for a moment and look inward, allowing the paintings to become mirrors for one’s own memories, emotions, and dreams. Each work is like a window into an unseen landscape where reality meets intuition, and the visible merges with the invisible.
Perhaps it is there, between color and silence, that each visitor will encounter their own personal landscape of the soul.
