Vīndedzis Oskars
Painter, teacher.
Oskars Vindedzis was born in Riga on the 3rd of April, 1911.
Oskars Vindedzis painted realistic landscapes, flowers, portraits. Worked with oil paint, watercolors, gouache, pastels.
In 1932 he graduated from Riga Castle School of Arts and Crafts. Studied at the Studio of J. Tillberg (1940-1941). In 1947 he graduated the Monumental Painting Class of O. Skulme at the Art Academy of Latvia with a diploma work – wide-angle painting “Midsummer’s Day”.
Worked as an educator at the Fine Arts Studio of Riga’s Pioneers and Pupil’s Castle (1952-1959), 7th Special Vocational-Tehchnical School, JRRMV (1961-1962). He has led the Painting Studio of The Trade Workers Club (1958-1966). Was a senior laboratory assistant at the Art Academy of Latvia (1962-1964).
His first exhibition in Riga was in 1938 with V. Klanroze. Regularly organized solo exhibitions in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia; also in Minneapolis, Des Moines, Latvian Centre “Garezers” (USA, 1988).
Oskars Vindedzis died in Riga on the 8th of July, 2002.
