Siliņš Kārlis
Painter.
Karlis Silins was born in Jurmala on the 3rd of October, 1958.
Graduated from Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1977), the Art Academy of Latvia (1984) with diploma work “Against the Wind” (supervised by Imants Vecozols).
Worked as a teacher at Mersrags Secondary School (1984-1986). Currently works as a teacher of painting at the Riga School of Design and Art.
Member of the Artists’ Union since 1985. Takes part in exhibitions since 1981. Solo exhibitions in: Riga (1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000), Paris (1992), Ventspils (1998, with H. Silins). Group exhibitions in: Sweden (1990), Germany (1992), France (1993, 1997), Australia (1993), Israel (1997), Spain (1998).
Works of Karlis Silins can be found in the Latvian National Museum of Art and in the museum collection of the Artists’ Union and private collections in Latvia, USA, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, Russia, France and Australia.
