Nikolay Karagodin painted still life, nudes and portraits, but most important art works in his artistry were landscapes, in which he depicted landscapes of Latvian in a classical manner. The nuanced and sensitive observation of nature and the experience of the moment sums up the characteristics of his painting.
Nikolay Karagodin was born in Staicele on the 20th of January, 1922.
In 1943 he started his studies the Art Academy of Latvia, but left already in 1949.
Exhibited since 1945. Solo exhibitions in Riga (1968, 1969, 1970, 1973), Staicele (1968, 1986), Kraków (Poland, 1968), Jurmala (1988). Nikolajs Karagodins was a member of Artists’ Union since 1957.
Nikolajs Karagodins died on the 13th of October, 2015.
