Pankoks Arnolds

Painter.

Arnolds Pankoks painted deeply felt, emotional landscapes that have been dominated by a variety of moods. He has made many watercolor paintings.

Arnolds Pankoks was born in Liepaja District, in Nica Parish, on the 21st of September, 1914.

He studied at the Department of Painting at the Art Academy of Latvia (1937-1947, by taking a break during 1943-1945); diploma work –„The Restoration of the Bank of the River Daugava” (also “The Morning of a Working Day”, supervised by G. Eliass).

He worked at the Liepaja Applied Arts School (1947-1950), also took part in the portrait workshop at “Kombinats Maksla”.

Member of the Artists’ Union since 1950. Exhibited since 1949. Solo exhibitions in Riga (1968, 1975, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1994), Sinole and Mezotne (1976), Sauriesi(1984), Ainazi (1985), Janmuiza (1986), Ligatne(1987), Ikskile (1988), Adazi (1989), as well as in  Toronto, Canada (1991).

Arnolds Pankoks died on the 8th of November, 2008.
